GAY & GREY Upcoming docuseries As a young lesbian woman, Julia M. Free became aware of the lack of visible examples of elderly lesbian couples in long-term romantic relationships—both in her personal environment and in the media. As a director and journalist, she created a docu-series to address this absence, with the support of the Pascal Decroos Fund, the Flemish Audiovisual Fund (VAF), and the Belgian national broadcaster VRT-Canvas. The series is currently in development with production company De Mensen and is set to premiere op VRT-Canvas in 2027. GAY & GREY follows lesbian couples aged 70 and above as they navigate their present-day lives. Their decades-long relationships and enduring commitment make them pioneers in the ongoing journey toward identity, visibility, and belonging in society.
